DBT Outpatient Therapy Program

Learn more about our regular DBT program or our impactful therapy program – where personal growth meets adventure! Our unique program combines evidence-based DBT therapy with the thrill of Dungeons & Dragons.

Three Mental Health Benefits you Get From our DBT Program

IMPROVED SOCIAL SKILLS

Misunderstood, unappreciated or not taken seriously? Learn skills to address your wants and needs in relationships without damaging the relationship or your self-esteem

BEHAVIORAL REGULATION

Out of control behaviors are caused by out of control emotions. Learn to tolerate distress and regulate emotions. Learn to get through a crisis without making things worse. Learn to decrease the intensity (and duration) of emotions.

DEPRESSION, ANXIETY, LONELINESS

For reasons that are obvious or not so obvious you may feel isolated from family and friends. We will help you increase your feelings of connection, contentment, calmness and safety.

WHAT IS DBT?

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence based therapy that seeks to improve mood, dysregulated emotions and social isolation by identifying certain behaviors that cause us to feel bad about ourselves or disconnected from friends and family. Sometime the behaviors are obvious, other times they may seem like a mystery. Through behavioral analysis we get a better idea of the chain of events surrounding them, what problems they are trying to solve and a more educated plan of stopping the behaviors.

WHY USE D&D IN THERAPY?

Research on Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) as a behavioral intervention is still in its early stages, but it is believed to effectively address the social isolation often associated with disorders of over-control. D&D provides structure, fosters social engagement, and allows participants to experiment with new roles and behaviors in a safe and supportive environment. Interestingly, fun itself is an evidence-based intervention used in treating disorders of over-control, such as OCPD and anorexia nervosa. In our D&D groups we hope to provide all of these tools as an adjunct to RO DBT or other ongoing therapy.

We realize D&D isn’t for everyone. It is not a requirement for therapy, just something we are excited to be able to offer.
